Clio Headlights - Please cure my frustration!

  1.4 Dynamique 16V
I've got a slight issue with my headlights in a mk3 clio i've just picked up.

Firstly, the sidelights have no issues.:D

1) When the headlights are turned on the passenger side lights are significantly brighter than the driver's side. Also, you can see the driver's side indicator lights up very dimmly (it doesn't flash)

2) When the full beams are on the passenger's side are fine, however on the drivers side all the lights cut out except the right indicator which shines (without flashing) very brightly.

I've checked the fuses and after swapping them around I know it's deffinately not a fuse problem. The bulbs all llok like they work fine so I assume that it's not as simple as replacing a bulb. I believe the problem is a short circuit from where the car took a bump at the front.

But how do I trace / fix a short circuit problem in the headlights, and could there be another reason??
