Clio I72 camber

  Clio 182
Hello:)
I'm new here so please bear with me, I have done a search but couldn't find what I was looking for. I've had a standard 02 172 for a year now and just had to change the front tyres as they were worn on the inside edges but otherwise plenty of tread left on the rest of the tyre. I think this is caused by the camber setting but I don't know how the tyres wear on these cars on normal set up.

Should I be getting fairly even wear? What do I need to do to adjust this, that is, what settings should I have, do I need camber bolts (whatever they are:)) I noticed minus one degree camber was mentioned in some threads. I only want the car set up for road driving for the tyres to last without an aggressive geo of any sort. I'm running Toyo T1R 205 45 16's all round.:S

Thanks

Denny

hello mate and welcome to the forum... firstly i suppose you have checked that the tracking etc is all correct? 1 degree of camber shouldnt wear the inside to the excess you seem to mention.

Adam, thanks for that, no I haven't yet checked the tracking, I suppose that's the first thing I should do. There must be a link on here somewhere to the correct setting but I haven't found it yet. Halfords say they will check my tracking and adjust if needed for £45 but I don't know how competent they are and I wouldn't take the car there if I didn't know what toe in/out they should be adjusting the car to.

Thanks

  a low one
i got told that even on standard suspension the front camber can be adjusted slightly with the top bolt on the hub? maybe check this, just a guess anyway

as I can remember a good and close to std setup would be:
front toe: 1mm out
rear: 1mm in
camber: ~.30 negative on the front
~ 1,4-1,5 negative rear
you could go up to 1,5 neg in the front without excessive wear (using camber bolts or adjustable top mounts like the AST ones)
hope that helps
