Clio Mileage

When a clio hits 100,000 does it go back to 0 or continue going into the hundred thousands. I ask this because I have seen a cheap clio a 51 plate and it says it has done 22,000 miles but my father is thinking whether it has actually done 122,000 miles.
Help Please.

it will say 122k if it has done that, or its been clocked??

hpi it through the proper channels and it will be done with a milage check.

also look at service history and past MOT certificates

How will I "hpi it through the proper channels". The car is exactly like the one you were selling..well same colour haha it is quite a nice car but my father is telling me to be cautious over the amount of miles it has done. When I have a look tomorrow I will ask to see the service history and MOT certificates. Do you think it is genuine that it has done 22k? Seems extremely low for a 51 plate but its obviously possible. Couldve been owned by someone like a grandmother who only travels back and forth to church or something.

I'm sure it will say 122k if that's what it has done, I don't see anything suspicious really about just having 22k on the clock. But as others have said, hpi it and check the history if you're unsure.

yeah, it would say 122k!! my nans got a 51 plate which is on 16k, so it is possible!!

My mum had her K reg 106 from new and she sold it last year, that only had 25k on the clock!!

My 51 plate 172 has 28K miles on it so could be genuine! Look for the normal signs inside. Such as excessive wear to the steering wheel, gear knob and front seats. If the paper work and interior condition don't match up, just walk away.

It will do upto 999999 miles ie just short of 1 million before goes back to 0

Clocking them easy so you need to check.

Could ask for the V5 and get the last owners name and address, then contact them to ask what it was on when they sold it?

Unless of course they clocked it, in which case you need the previous persons details... lol

does it have any old mot`s or service history as the mileage will be show on both.

there are low mileage cars out there though, i brought my lupo gti 3 1/2 years old and only had 3000 miles on, from a dealer with proof of it withe the service. some people just buy a car and dont use it much.

also does it look like its done 122k? carpets worn? seats worn where you get in and out? steering wheel worn? little things like that may give it away.

I think as p90ade said, I think you would be able to tell if the car had dome 122k. I drove a BMW with over 100k on a while back, and it was very obvious, everything was very worn.

Given the way they build them why would Renault bother with an odometer that read past 99,999?

It its done correctly the dealership should replace the milage. They can do it.
