Clio miss fire, run out of ideas (correct diagnosis wins a PRIZE)

  Clio 182
Hi,

not posted on here for a while now hopefully someone can help.

I have a small miss fire happening to my car intermittently, the car has the emissions light on. when the car was plugged into a snap-on code reader it said lambda 2 was down (has de-cat). we did a live reading on the car whilst it was running and could see that it was not responding unlike probe 1 which was. i changed the faulty one for a new one and swapped the position to eliminate either the new one being faulty or the wiring to the second somehow broken. when reconnected to the diagnostics machine the live data recorded that there was correct signal now being received form both. the car now cleared of faults was running much better. on my way home the car then started to behave a little funny, the acceleration under load (climbing a hill or under hard acceleration) would kick back a fault with the electronics, a box with a squiggly line on the dash and limp home mode was activated. the fault would erase when the engine went off, then went back to the garage to plug back in the following day, the faults had gone and now the light has not re-appeared. now the problem is coming when the car is medium acceleration , pulling away but then cruising its okay, its almost as if the car is about to run out of fuel, it occasionally happens when cruising and then the car is accelerating. i have changed the MAP sensor today and it has made no difference.

I have no idea what could be the problem and have tried to give as much info, alternately does anyone know any good renault specialist near the Brighton area?

Prize will be awarded to the correct diagnosis!

Sounds like either a fault with the u/s lamda or the map sensor to me. Woukd need to see it and do some data logging to say for sure though.

I had a similar problem few years back, im sure i changed coil pack, ht leads and spark plugs. Im sure it said there was a lambda fault too but it was the misfire throwing loads of fuel through the exhaust throwing a lambda fault up.

I know this sounds stupid.
But open up your bonet at night time and just have a look to see if coils/leads are sparking out anywhere because it has happened to me before. not on a clio but still its worth a thought.

A: have you solved this yet?
B: whats the prize?
C: my guess is new plugs needed
