Clio 3 Dynamique

I have read a previous thread where there was confusion over fitting rear speakers, because 3dr versions only require the grill to be removed to fit, but 5dr need the whole door car removed.
I have the 5dr version. I bought some speakers from Halfords (Alpine coaxial 13cm) which they thought would fit fine, and they attempted to fit them. They removed the door card fine, the wires are all in place despite no speakers coming as standard, but they couldn't get the speakers to fit in the door. They said it was because the door hole shape was strange, and that if they went ahead and tried to fit them they would rattle.
Has anyone successfully fitted rear speakers in a 5 door Mk3 Clio? If so, which speakers did you buy and was the fit completely fine, or did you need to do some A-Team style tinkering to get them to fit securely?
They suggested I try to source some Renault speakers but am having no joy finding any breakers that have them.
Who knew fitting some bog standard speakers could be so hard! Any help you guys have would be appreciated.
