As it is hard to describe the sound thats coming from the car here is a video. It is in a garage now but just wondering what you guys think.

if it were mine id punish it by taking it somewhere where there are twisty roads, and id hammer the living s**t out of it. thats what i do with mine every so often, if a noise starts i take it round the bends near me and hammer it.

Nope! Having a new cambelt done and aux belt and water pump. May aswel get as much done as possible whilst its out.

Take it noone else has had this noise before

Need a bit more information:

Are there any other symptoms?

Is it just the noise?

Does it go away when hot?

When you rev higher does it subceed?

Yeah in gear 3 it seems to go and when you put your foot down become like the car it was. It is just the noise yeah. Very similar to my dads transit

I had this or very similar. renault were talking about stripping my engine down. It turn'd out to be a broken aux bet tensioner the monkeys.

sounds like the auto tensioner for the aux belt iv changed a few or if its got one not sure but the alternater free wheel makes the same noise .. take the belt off and see if the noise is still there

Sweet thanks for the replies guys. Makes me feel a bit better about the situation.

The car has done 60k and is 5 years old so I am getting the cambelt done anyhow whilst the engine is out. Do you think it is worth having the water pump done too?

why are you having the engine out?

water pump may aswell be done, aswell as the clutch.

sounds like a nackered aux belt tensoner it did that on my 306 was same noise and went when you reved it

Nah mate,

Easy to do whilst they are in! takes about 5 hours.
