Im in the market for a 182 with both cup packs or a decent 172 cup havent made me mind up yet,

I finding price's dont half vary ie 04 182's vary from 3.5k to just under 6k.
Ok the 6k ones must be mint but 2.5k difference is a lot.........

Ive seen a nice silver 02 plate 172 looks tidy but just under 4k and seen decent one's for under 3k

Why is this:(

  Fiesta ST-3
I just bought a 172 cup on 47k with all belts and water pump changed less than 100 miles ago for £4k. I was happy tbh!

  Mk5 golf gti
The prices have dropped alot.
its just alot of owners refuse to drop the price of theirs accordingly :)

  RB 182 FF cup pack
What you pay is what you get! My advice is look at a good few if you can because some people's ideas of a mint car and what the car is actually worth can be very different! I drove to Wales from Somerset to look at a 182cup because the chap promissed me the car was immaculate, got there it was a total shed! half a sunday wasted, tosser! The guy in question was not a cs member!

  BG 182 FF
I've just put a deposit on A Black 182 FF, 2 owners, 34k in good condition 2005 for £5,245. No belts changed tho. Struggled to find 182 with belt change.

  Black Clio GT
depends on the colour of the 182, black gold/liquid yellow carry a big premium with both cup packs....
also like others have said depends on milage/service history and whether cambelt service has been done... this also carries a premium as its a costly specialist job to do.

if your after a bargin then i think you will have to be prepared to spend on fixing dents/paint and consumables like tyres, brakes and bushes ect which soon mounts up so unless your good with spanners it pays to spend the extra and get a minter with fsh!!!

So in essence you have just paid more like £5,845......I'm sure you could pick up a 182FF with low milage in good condition and with belts done for that price.

  Lotus Exige, 182
I've recently sold mine for over 6k. It's low mileage, 05 plate, full SH and all belts done, pretty mint really. Sold in less than a day!

You get what you pay for.

  3 Series xdrive
Just bought a really good condition non cupped 04 182 with 29k (timing belt done) for £3800 (from a garage)

Far too many sellers still looking for 5/6k for these cars, would not pay anymore than 4.5k for one, regardless of mileage/condition etc.

  Hyundai i40
you should pick a 182 up for 4-5k. depends on your budget

The inferno orange clios are going for even cheaper prices

  Astra SRI/ Hornet
my 05 inferno was imaculate had 42k no belts as it was due last month and i sold it for 4700. alot of car in great condition for such a low price. but this is the way unless you have a rusty ford with an rs badge on it.

For £5K you should be able to get a mint 182 with belts now. Theres on in the forsale section on here, can't remember who's it is but its on 68K, turini's, matched inlets, exhaust etc for 4200 with fsh and belt changes at rentec. I'd buy it tomorrow if I wasn't going to uni next year. Such a bargin.

  dCi 65 + C2 (<Sold)
Will be actively seeking a 182 this time next year, can't wait to see what the prices are then. Actually, 197's may drop in to the 6k budget next year, eh?

p.s anyone know how much it costs to change a 197's belts?

The 6k people are on crack! Lol. Unless it's stupidly low miles etc.

You can get a decent one with the belts done for £5k. What colour do you want? That makes a difference..

Initially 6k was my budget but seeing the prices of 182's now it's obviously well under that, however I'd still stretch to 6k for a 197 next year...if they are that price, that is.

  Discounted 1*2 parts
prices have dropped massively and i wouldnt let a cheaper option put you off looking at one. i sold my 182 ff (86k on the clock) for £3.6k which was mint but jus the high mileage people off. 86k is nothing on these engines
