Get a decat, the difference is unbelievable. If you live near Notts, Ill show you!!! Raced me mate in a 1.4 with just filter and backbox and won easily at any speed. Just pulls so much better

i can do 10.2!

i got a IK, zorst and de-cat!

need a superchip and maybe some headowrk for 9 secs!

mine does 10,2 with a pipercross air filtre and a 2" backbox

with a decat i should be able to do 9,5 secs will i ??

De-cat definately and headwork i think. If its the 8V energy engine, junk your induction kit (if thats the filter youve got) and get a replacement element or something nearer the front of the car away from the heat. Should be possible to get a camshaft for it by now too....

is it legal to have a de-cat? what year was it bought in, mines a 92 but its got a cat and i wanna get rid of it, thing is MOT is up soon so dont wanna fail on that.

Dazz, Some cars can still pass when they have a decat pipe fitted but not many and personally I wouldnt risk it. You just put the cat on to get through the MOT and get it changed to the decat afterwards. Pretty straight forward job once youve got the car off the ground.

well i m lucky... i´ve have got a replacement element and i´ve also taken off the pipe who goes from the echaust manifold to the air filtre box. I´ve got the 1,4 energy engine..

Standard my 1.4 S (RT with an Rsi gear sequence or somthing!) does 11.0s well thats my best to date with 2 people in the car. Gonna wait until my first year then the mods go on.

is there such thing as a silent de-cat? im not really after extra noise, just better performance. I hear k-tecs silenced one is still loud?

there silenced one will still make a bit of a noise but not too loud!

Do all these mods just raise your insurance up to Rsi and valver levels anyway? Although I did de-cat my old VTR and that did make a pretty big difference, but chipping and headwork etc, is just a waste of money on a 1.4 isnt it.

good question, surely the insurance company will say that it shouldnt have an MOT if it doesnt have a Cat?

Will putting a new cat on make any difference, or will it be more restrictive?

doubt it mate! proberly only slightly as it will be less bloked than ur old one!

Im with Liverpool Vic and its unlimited mods providing you dont change the engine capacity.

Before decat, I did some dodgy timing (me pressing stopwatch) and was around 11 seconds to 60, best being 10.9, worst 11.5, we decat it should be closer to 10 now. Well see at York Sunday anyway!!! Qtr mile before decat, 18.3, Im guessing 17.8 now with decat and a bit of practice!
