i know theres a few threads on here about the service intervals on the 172 but i thought id see if i can get a more direct answer. my 172 has only done 34k so i know its coming up for the aux belt being changed wheres the best place to buy the kit?
i want to do the cam belt at the same time even though its not due
again wheres the best place to buy the kit?

and what else will need to be changed at the same time?

Best place to buy the kit is probably the stealers. I'd get the waterpump changed while the cam belt is being done, it's only a few more pound on top and will save alot o hassle if it goes!

5 years or 70K is the recommendation for the cambets so its due really.

a special tool is needed for the cambelt

Many people change the water pump too as if it goes the whole job has to be done again.

Renualt would charge £600-£800. For the cambelt job. Most get it done by good independents at around £450.

It’s a fiddle job but if your confident with the spanners go for it.

Why cant you just do it the old fashioned way and use a homemade locking tool. Theres obviously a reason I have just never seen why before...

Yep probably. I bought a conti cambelt for mine when it was getting done. Was a conti 2 fit so ended up taking it back and getting the renault 1!

Aux belt kit and end cap are renault only realy

cambelt is a common part gsf etc sell them for cheaper.
