Clio specialist - Northwest Area

Can anyone recommend a garage in the Northwest area?
I need the belts doing on the 182 and would also like someone who knows the cars to have a good look overit.

Can anybody suggest anywhere else? I have emailed them and sent a request via their website but no response.
Obviously they don't need any more work.

^ You need to ring pal, emails are the bottom of the list unfortunately!! When i do get chance to sit down at work on the pc it's to do bills / file paperwork etc! :)

Unfortunaltely we get loads of emails we waste time with that you never hear from again, if people ring generally (not all the time) they are more genuine, must of spent days repyling to emails that were a waste of time! lol!

Why do people on this forum have such an aversion to picking up the phone and speaking to people?

Call them.

*Beat me to it Steve!

As above comments Birchdown are top notch :)

Maybe some people are busy and 'phoning around' isn't a practical use of their time.
Perhaps the question should be why do companies offer an email / website contact option but choose to ignore it?

Don't ignore it, just isn't a priority! Customer's cars that are in / parked outside the workshop are.

So you're implying that firing off an email and having to wait for a response is quicker than speaking to someone directly over the phone. Aren't sure if are SRS...

It's not people on this forum, it's just young people in general.

Previous generations grew up with face to face and phones if they were lucky. Anyone under 25 has grown up with texts, IM and email.

Maybe you would be in a better place to comment if you had 'some' facts.

"Aren't sure if are SRS" - could you translate that to English?

Agreed, but I am 39.
I have 2 children and 30 employees who take priority over phoning a garage who offer an email to contact them.

Is this finished?

Had 'some' facts? What are you actually talking about?

With regards 'Aren't sure if are SRS', this would roughly equate to 'What a ridiculous thing to say, I'm really struggling to ascertain if you're actually serious or not'

Hopefully this is now sufficiently clear.

Out of sheer perverse curiosity, what is it you do for a living with all these employees you refer to? Are you a people skills coach? :)

If I did offer people skills I would be in position to offer you my services, however, this is not my line of work.
Thanks for clearing up the 'SRS' thing, good to know you weren't having a stroke....or something.

In case you were concerned, I have sorted the cambelt issue with my regular mechanic. Just in case, you know.....

Yes, quite. It's called humour-something I'm sensing you lack somewhat. Maybe it's through being so busy? Who knows.

Will sleep soundly now 'RE' (you ought know that one, what with being so au fait with email yes?) your belt, excellent news indeed.

Contact issues aside. The Birchdown boys are very helpful and keenly priced. Tey get my business despite a fairly long trip.

I have to say (Sorry birchdown, you know how much I love you!!) that if you offer an email service, then you should reply to them within 24 hours at least.

IF you don't have time to do that, then you should delete the option of emailing.

I make a point of doing all mine every morning whilst i'm having my breakfast, and yes you are correct, 90% of email enquiries are complete messers who will never show up.

(And evolu, I trust your regular mechanic has done an F4R cambelt before and has all the locking tools?!)

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
Lesson learned.
Don't ask a forum of Renault nerds for impartial advice.

LOL- of which you just paid £10 to be one of them-

Go somewhere else then- when your auxillary belt snaps or worse still you pay £400 for the belts done then your dephaser pulley goes t*ts up dont moan on here

We did give you impartial advice. We told you to visit your closest specialist, Birchdown.

Have a search on this forum of all the horror stories of 'normal' mechanics doing cambelt changes. Fred (the owner of BTM Performance) has said himself he would rather change the clutch on a lamborghini than do a cambelt on an F4R. Its something that can't be done with tipex and a screwdriver and requires over £140's worth of Renault tools.

A lot of companies offer the email contact thing and don't bother replying or it takes weeks for them to get back to you.

As said, if you can't reply to the email in a timely fashion then don't offer the service IMO.

But back on topic - birch down are the folks to go to in the nw.

lol I liked the part where he said he had 2 children as if that has any relevance to making a phone call. Do you email your kids to see where they are? Usually it's a good sign if they don't respond right away, means they actually have work in.

I'd be more concerned if I got a response right away.

Birchtown, BTM Performance, TDF. Depends how far you're willing to travel. Doesn't sound like very far though
