clio sport 1998 immobiliser problem

  renault clio
hi I need help! I have a Renault clio 1.4 sport 1998. it hasn't been driven for the best part of 9 months, I went to it yesterday armed with a new fully working battery with the aim to get it going. unfortunately everything worked, to a point, as when I started the car it fired up ran for no more than 2 seconds and then cut out. I believe this is an immobiliser problem. the key works fine, opens central locking, batteries in key are new, its the only key I have, but when pressing for the immobiliser there is no response. does anyone have any idea how this can be resolved 'cos I need the car up and running by next Wednesday?

Welcome to the forum Serenbo!

you may find better help posting your problem in the relevant technical section! If it was the immobiliser - the car wouldn't fire at all surely anyway!

Hi,

same thing happend to my 1999 1.2 Clio. I got it fixed for £70.00 of a mobile car mechanic. They have to re programme your key.
