Clio Super 1600

  Clio 197

There are plenty of them out there. Kit car for Rally. You give them the money and they give you the car, or at least the kit to build one from. The class rules limit the cost of a car to US$100,000.

Hi Edd, Ive been sniffing around super 1600 inlet manifold and other parts, you just wont believe the prices Im being quoted ... could fund solid gold throttle bodies three times over for the money.

Are you based on the continent BTW? anywhere near Dieppe, Oreca by any chance??

What kind of prices are they?

It says on that website that the engine is based on the road going 1600 what have they done to it to give it 220bhp

the engiens are 1600s rd based, they have to use a 60mm restrictor so can make more power. How do they make the power, easy, power is not dictated by capacity but by the amount of air you cna process per unit of time, the more you cna process, the more power you make, and they use rpm to do this since they are capacity limited.

philip, whats the point looking at a 60mm restricted inlet manifold for a 1600 when the 172 one is 70mm+?

So raising the rev limit doubles the power??? 110bhp to 220bhp What does it rev to 20,000rpm. Surely it must use throttle bodies or a turbo?

more rpm means more air processed yes, but its a bit more complex than that, you have to deisgn a cam profile what works within that rpm band. You wont be able to get a cam that works at all rpm levels simply because is impossible to get adequete VE at high rpm but keep it at low rpm. you need to hold the valves open for as long as possible at high rpm, but at low rpm, that equals losses through several factors such as flow reversal and it excaping striaght out the exhaust valve.

They run at about 9000rpm, but nobody said that they make their peak power under their std state.

like i said, they use a single 60mm throttle body as they are restricted to it, they were allowed to run quad 40mm restrictors before but was banned last year.

when I asked Owen developments about TBs last week, they looked at pricing different options inc a rapidly rejected look at sourcing super 1600 parts. In any case the pricing on that stuff was totally ludicrous, so were back to the standard TB route, if only somebody could get off their backsides and develop a kit. Ive even chased weber alpha today and theyre getting back to me tomorrow with some feedback.

try asquith auto sport in west peckham kent 01622872253. my friend is currently building one of these cars although not using same engine due to high price, all i can say is what an absolute f**king animal, its powered with a worked 200 bhp willy engine asquith are quite helpful aroung racing renaluts

how can u enter a 2ltr in a 1600 class?

philip, no point sourcing S1600 parts, since its not for your engine....plus, like i said, your TB is larger anyway.
