Clio to Saxo VTR. My new car.

  Ph1 172 + Combo van
Got it just before Christmas but i have only just got round to taking photos.

My old Clio 1.4 I sold it for £1600. Bought it for considerably less.;)

How it was with mods:

Rolling on a steelie after skidding into a kerb on the day before new years eve. The exhaust broke that day too. New centre section put on and im currently looking for a replacement alloy.

Went out to get some pics:

Very happy with it. Some mods already planned but i dont have much money atm due to just paying for the car and insurance which is £1400 fully comp, 18, 0 ncb, 1 years driving exp and 3 points.

:D

Cracking cars! I have 4 black VTR wheels if you're interested dude, drop me a PM.

Keep an eye on the rear axle too, they're prone to bearing failure!

^^ yeah the trailing arms die if you try to lower it without putting new bearings in!

  106 GTi
Looks tidy - common place for the exhaust to fail. Enjoy.

Really tempted on a VTR as a daily driver.

It's got notth how low it is. They suffer from water ingress and the bearings seize onto the beam, the outers rotate on them which makes the wheels wobble on the stub axle. If the wheel wobbles, the bearing has pitted into the stub and is irrepairable. You can refurb the axle with having stub axles made (Not a replacement part) and buying new bearings but its £££££!

  ITB'd 182...
Supersprint exhaust and some VTS rims, lowered 40mm and that would be it for me :)

Big fan of the saxo's if im honest....

Nice mate, Saxo is trully under estimated as a step up without scaring the shite out of insurane companies.

You should (once you get your claims up) invest in a VTS, beautiful little things, eh mini-valver?

You can never show too much man love to the VTS lol

I especially love it when the haters arrive and hail it as the anti-christ, it makes life trully worth while coming on here lol

I like the "I couldn't get away from a VTS" threads or Michael172 and his bullshit posts with "shitroen" in them, lol. See you on track and watch you crawl into your foreskin in embarrassment!

Looks ace mate- Good choice. Watch out for Lift off oversteer in the wet/greasy conditions! VTS rims ftw!:approve:

I'd put a rear alloy on the front, and the space saver on the back for the time being. Isn't great having 2 mis matching wheels on the front, makes for some random steering.

  PH-Lamer 1.4 16v
that reminds me so much of mine, except mine had vts alloys lol great lil cars but beware of the ride comfort if u do lower, i had mine dropped by 40mm and it just became unbearable!

Standard wheels, spare is made for the car and has a matching tyre. Well, should have.

Actually, they came with a matching alloy as a spare.... Why haven't you got one, lol.

Looks nice, the exhaust broke on my one too. I still miss it sometimes! (the vtr, not exhaust!)

Mine were borderline dangerous, it just meant you had to go down the box and be a man, loved it!

Limiter in 5th a handful of times, and if I'm honest, it spent most of its life in my ownership over about 6k, lol.

100 in 3rd, 130 in 4th, round to the bottom middle in 5th!

Cheers everyone!

Mini valver: that is what was underneath. Are you sure they are meant to come with an alloy as a spare? this one has probally never been used, michelin tyre loads of tread, stickers still on it. it is the same size as the alloys.
I was thinking to buy two alloys, replace the dameaged one and use the other one as a spare underneath as it is quite a bit lighter than that steel wheel.

My dad has a citroen xsara estate at his garage which is a non runner, ive been eyeing up its 266mm brake setep;)

Will probally get some eibach springs, exhaust, filter, change the front brakes, some light weight alloys. Which to do first:S

Swap the brakes to some GTi-6 or GTi180 ones if you bother mate, they run 280mm discs and a far better caliper. ONly £70 second hand too which is brilliant. Exhaust wise, Supersprint race, then get some Billies and leave it! It'll handle, stop and sound better than you'll ever need it to so you can enjoy the car for what it is. Loved driving mine, made me a better driver too as you're very involved when you're making progress...

You might be right Kev actually, a mates Mk1 did have......

Nice upgrade that aleX! :) i like it. how is the insurance?
Cheers mate. The insurance is really reasonable imo. With Bell: £1400 fully comp, 18, 0 ncb, 1 years driving exp and 3 points, with my mum and dad as named drivers on the policy. It was going to be £990 to reinsure my clio with zurich.

  Tiger R6 / Saxo Vts
My mk2 vts had a steel spare not an alloy.

The vts was one of the cars I've had that I drove the hardest - yet nothing ever went wrong at - during the year and a half I had it, all I changed were tyres/brakes, and 2 roll bar drop links as couldn't get the old ones off when I lowered it without cutting them off.

I'd recommend one to someone anyday.

Yeh i suppose i might aswell get the 280mm brakes if i am going to get 15inch wheels.

What are good tuning specialists like Ktec but for saxo parts?
Only one ive found is Kam racing.

Looks a tidy motor, nice one :)

I'd keep the standard wheels on if I were you, really suit the car once it's dropped.
