Clio

  Black 172
Was driving the clio the other night and noticed a few things really, it tram lines a hell of alot ( probably due to the fact i had wider tyres fitted to stop me kerbing my alloys) Is it worth swapping them back to the standard size ones ?. Also the idle seems to be lumpier than what it normally is, its recently had bits done to it as the handling wasnt great. It had a new rear axel and is now straight, also the back box fell off last week ! I just get sick of things happening ! something under my seat rattles and its really annoying ! just little things that ruin a really nice car, i do love driving it. Oh and also my clutch is creaking ! :(

Are your winter wheels a different offset ?? did you have the tracking realigned when yu had them fitted ?? when you say tram lines do you mean pulls ??

yeah if i go over a dodgy surface it pull ya, i am thinking this is due to the tyres. It doesnt have different wheels on, just the standard 172 wheels. It has been tracked a few weeks ago when the axel was fitted.

Isn't it just the road camber pulling you ?? happened to me and I thought I had a problem and the guys on here said that was what it was :D

Are the tyres due changing or something ??

They are a bugger to fit those clutch cables ! my dad has a garage, dont think he would like to fit my clutch cable Lol ! Think i will just get a new one and see if it improves it. Tyres are brand new only had them on a few months.
I dont know it is probably just me but it just seems to have little things that are annoying

I hope so! just wondering whether to stick the standard size tyres back on it

Well, the first step to not curbing your rims, is too not curb your tyres ;) Drive further away from the curb maybe? ;) ;)

My 172 did that really badly. I had the tracking checked and it was fine, but the steering felt very unstable at times, especially on the motorway in the lanes where the lorries wear grooves. It doesn't do it so much on the 182.

c'mon ben, how else are they going to change cd/apply make up/read bridget jones diary.

there has got to be a sacrifice, and they just decide not to hold the wheel or change gear.

205/45 16's.........and it is very poor IMO........if you pull out to overtake and nail it, the wheel pulls all over the shop!!! I have never driven it with the 195's on..... but vicky said it was never so bad. the 205's are Uni Rainsports. The car does pull a hell of a lot and doesnt feel very stable. What doesnt give me much faith is the garage saying the geometry is all fine.......yet the wheel doesnt sit straight when you are going straight - a pet hate of mine!!

195/45's required again Vicx.......put her back to how she should be :)

speak to Chris (chris&nik) about the Uni Rainsports, think he has experience of those on the Cup...

get the tracking doen elsewhere them loads of places cannot track a car properly you don't need lazers though.

You can do it yourself if you know what your doing I've done it to mine its not that difficult but nope I'm not writing a guide would take forever.
