clio172 track car...another 1

Hi all

So had the Clio a few months now, bought of a friend of mine who had done a few track days in it but only a couple over 3 years, I’d been itching to get my hands on the right one and this was it!

Always been into my cars but starting the family meant I had to go sensible for a bit now with my own business I can spend more on my cars again, so the daily is a Leon cupra 300 and now this as a track car... meant to be a cheap way to have fun BUT IV CAUGHT THE BUG AGAIN!

So here’s a few pics of some progress getting her ready for donny evening session next week the 26th June!


Day I picked her up

Got buckets and harnesses 2nd hand but mint condition the buckets £200 out of a show mini rarely sat on and the harnesses for £50

Got them fitted along with the genuine omp deep dish wheel I wanted the wheel to be close and it feels awesome

Sprayed a few things liquid gold to tart it up a little as my ocd kicks in

And now just got these delivered today as the brakes are s**t right now and didn’t feel confident with them so after reading all your comments on the Ferodo ds1.11 pads I had to get some, along with the Brembo HC discs looking forward to seeing how good they are

And finally my daily which the missus drives a lot more then me for a standard car these are rapid such a great car

I’ve also got this to put on my I’m really unsure weather to or not, is it worth the hassle? Does it make it more unreliable

Well got the ferodo pads and discs fitted and oh my what a difference!!! Went for a drive up Buxton try get them bedded in so didn’t give them to much. But there amazing. Can’t wait get it on track Wednesday

First track day in the Clio on Wednesday at donny, a few other clios out there which were sweet! As they flew past me ?

Was good to see where the car was at and what needs doing to her and learn the car.

First few outings was getting more and more used to the characteristics of the car, back end is so twitchy! Specially doing 95 through Craner curves haha but once I got used to it was awesome, the ferodo pads n Brembo discs worked perfect!!

So I now need tyres these are a must, some semi slicks will transform it,
Front strut and rear anti roll bar.

Cleaned the cars today also ???

Thought I’d drop a few updates on here it’s been a while!! The last 3 years it’s had a lot done. Next is to concentrate on the engine, looking likely to be turbo conversion, also big brake kit and pure motorsport quick shifter.

recently did the trip to Nurburgring and spa 😍 clio was perfect

Oulton park 15th feb

well this was eventful had a few stressful days with the car leading up to it but finally had it ready. Then the morning the car wouldn’t start! 😢 I ended up leaving it at home and going with my mate. Only my other mate talked me into getting it going and bring it so we did in the end. Was a fuse after I had cut a wire I shouldn’t have so thankfully pretty easy fix. Had a few problems with my injectors throughout the day but always carry spares

also fitted new carbon pms shifter it feels amazing now it’s all set up nicely!! And looks the part too.

Decided to make my own splitter. Turned out well. Love the aggressive look it now has and hopefully works out on track too. Unsure weather to go yellow lip or keep the timber edge
