Clios are underrated on the quarter mile!

  BG 182 & 225 T
I was at crail yesterday on the quarter mile and my fastest time was 15.06, I've got a 182 with a full miltek decat and rs tuner remap

I won against;
Ep3 type r
newest fiesta st 180
196bhp mk6 fiesta
Clio 200 cup

meanwhile they were making jokes about the 'poxy Clio' but the look on there face was priceless as I took off!!

Got beat by a mk1 focus rs by just 0.3 seconds!!

Clios for the win!

Not the quickest time ever in your 182 either.

But yeah it soon gets boring at 1/4 mile days. Good for a laugh for a couple of runs.

1/4 mile is dull if your there to race other cars, soon as you get the bug and start chasing 60ft's and trap speeds and pushing decent times against your own performance, that's when its get fun :)

In my most recent track day I was out dragged by some pretty ordinary stuff. A Megane estate gt line and a BMW 3 series. Both diesel's. Despite my lack of track knowledge I still managed to pull them in under braking and in the corners.
I think most modern sales rep diesel's will have the RS (clio) in the traffic light gp.

  Inferno 182 & Saxo
was the driver of the new ST fiesta poor at launching it? Should easily be in front of a 182

It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning! I don't understand you lot on the Clio forum doing nothing expect criticizing them...

I'm not trying to take anything away from you. Seriously. I'm glad your happy and it sounds like you had a lot of fun.

The sad but true fact is that in the grand scale of things... the Clio is not all that in terms of straight line. Take me to cadwell park or ty croes on the other hand and you can make some much more expensive stuff look pretty average...until they blast past you again on the straights that is. :D

I think this forum is quite nice as there are a fair few people who are realistic about what the Clio can and cant do, its a momentum car, simple as that.

yip agree with that. Not slagging the car, just well aware of what that car is good and not so good at..

Got to agree - even slightly modified Clio 172/182's really aren't very quick in a straight line but the cornering ability more than makes up for it 90% of the time.

I wasn't far off the pace of 172/182's at Bedford last Saturday in my 1.5 109bhp Ignis.

Obviously the Clio's are no super car but they're as quick as most of their contemporary hot hatches and plenty since. You might as well be saying most hot hatches are slow.

  RB Clio 182
I take it you mean the new one with 200bhp standard?

Why call it an ST180?

Both the links i posted say so, even the ford website?

I know its got overboost but as standard its 180bhp?

Anyway he beat one in his ten year old clapped out clio ;)

I think the clios are pretty quick in a straight line, mine is quicker than my 205ps nurburgring edition corsa vxr, and probably faster than my old 243bhp corsa vxr up to about 120.
