Clios at Knochill

Just wondering if anyone is going to Knockhill this sunday 19th for the Hot hatch day and seeing if anyone has been to one of these days??

I am thinking about going along and having a go with my clio on the track and see what its capable of. Are there many of you doing trackdays this year with their cars and hav you got any tips for me please???

cheers

I know a couple of guys who do track marshalling at Knockhill and they say that they have yet to see a 172 on the track! They reckon that 172 drivers are cowards on a track, and spend all their time cleaning and admiring each others cars!

Jony_172 - Ive been going to Hot Hatches at Knockhill for years now. To be honest, they are nowhere near as good as they used to be.

If you were thinking about taking your car on track, Id try the Hot Marques evenings that are held during the week - normally in the spring/summer time when the evenings are lighter. Either that, or try and get on track during an owners club event.

The Hot Hatch days recently have seen too many dodgy old bangers out on track who are quite happy to use others as mobile chicanes or an extra brake. Which is a bit worrying if you have a car youd like to remain in one piece at the end of the session

Im looking to take my Cup on KH at some point soon, but there is no way Id consider a Hot Hatch event :(

Ive also got a guide which has lots of points on trackdays and preparing yourself and your car for a trackday - Ill try and dig it out if youd like a copy (drop me an email if you do).

Cheers

Chris

Thanks for the replies Girl Racer and Chris - i think i will wait then till spring coes and weather is bit better for my shot on track and maybe go to one of the evening events then u mention.

Chris you will need to tell me when you are taking your cup to Knochill iand i would be along to watch atleast.

And Girl Racer what kind of clio is that , that managed a 58.74 sec lap time? Is it a cup car?

thanks

Jony, where r u from? I could go up for a while, but only to test out my dads new camera! Id agree with Chris, the Hot Hatch days are full of Astra GTEs, Novas, Fiestas and Cavs. Youd have to be brave to go on with that lot. The Hot Marques nights are good, but I dont think there are enough of them. The best idea is to get in with the Scottish Scooby/Elise guys, their track evenings are usually top notch!!

I am from Glasgow m8- wot about yourself? I doubt i will go tmrw then seen as its not supost to be that good- i had only ever been to the power tour and btcc which were great but glad i got the opinion of you guys on the hothatch day.

Instead i think i will just spend tmrw giving my car a good clean and get some new wax or polish for it.
