clock/radio display help needed

hi chaps, so this morning went to the shops and was going to change the clock in the car, but before i could press the button, the whole display went off. the clock then flashes on and off displaying 0.00, the whole display flashes on and off periodically and the remote stalk stopped working when the display is off. when it comes back on the remote works again!

any ideas anyone?

its been fine for 3 years, never missed a beat until this morning! battery was replaced earlier this year and all other electrics seem fine
