Clunking clutch?

When I first start the 197 from cold, changing from 1st and and 2nd when i dip the clutch I get a really quite loud 'clunk' sound. I did think it was the gearbox/linkage but it appears to be connected to dipping the clutch rather than the changing of the gears.

Anyone had similar or any ideas what it might be?

If it sounds as though its coming from the bay, the Release bearing is probably getting stuck to the input shaft after its been sitting. If its inside the car, check no interior plastics are wedged against the clutch pedal!

to start with I thought it was gear linkage so definately coming from outside the car / in the bay.

I tend not to drive the car fro a few days at a time, found that when I drove the car saturday it did it first thing, was ok all day and then was ok again first thing sunday morning, but that was only a few hours from last being driven, not driving it again now untill later in the week so will see if it is doing it agian then. I expect it will be as this has been going on for a few weeks now, and seems to go away after the first 10 mins of driving.
