Clutch cable slack?

Ive noticed a bit of play at the top of the clutch pedal's travel before it actually starts releasing the clutch. The pedal also sits slightly higher than the brake pedal.

Is there an easy way of taking up the slack in the clutch cable?

surely not normal?

There's a small amount of travel taking up the slack before the clutch actually starts to release!?

  Lots of Alfas
Try resetting the self adjuster by taking the cable off the clutch fork, pressing the pedal to the floor and then pull the cable from the clutch end, and put back on the fork.

can you detail this procedure once again? I tried this and it seems that I did it the wrong way.. I'm also having the loose pedal thing and the clutch won't disengage properly, it has a low biting point and if I hold it in 1st gear, standing still with the clutch pedal to the floor and accelerating the car tends to go forward but only when accelerating hard (above 5-6k). this is annoying since the clutch kit is new :(
