clutch went on my mums clio. mk1 5dr. has about 45000 miles on it.

you rekon its worth getting a new clutch?

or just get a new car?

Well if the rest of the car is in gd nick then yeah def get a new clutch! you won't pick up another gd condition car for the cost of a clutch...

you sure its deffo the clutch, mine lasted untill 115k and all the high millage ones ive saw are still on factory clutch.

you sure its not just a clutch cable or something silly or has the box went and covered the clutch in oil?

my mum took it to the garage this morning and thats what she came back saying. when driving you accelarate and the car hardly moves it just revs like hell!

If it is the cluutch then DIY it on a 1.2 its not to difficult loads of space GSF etc there only cheap (£45). Then some new gearbox oil say £15.

Assuming the cars in good condition and working fien go for it.

biting point was high from when i started driving it, back in feb. think it was always like that since my mum owned it.

They always are high.

New clutch from gsf is £45 or so then its officialt 6.5hrs labout so a garge would charge a forutne you can do it quicker if ou want go to a cluthc changing specilist £250 all in cash I'd recon.

i done mine myself well with the help of a mate took us about 4 or 5 hours i think cant remember exactly. was a lot easyer than i thought it would be!

be sure to change the clutch cable while your at it, i thought my new clutch was nice and springy and light untill i changed the cable now its amazing, its so much lighter that i can hardly use the clutch on our 55 plate dynamique with 65k on the clock
