Clutch on Willy 2

Cable finally snapped tonight leaving me freezing my wotsits off waiting for recovery. I knew clutch was going as pedal been a pig to push down for last fortnight or so. I been quoted about £450.00 by local mechanic.
Anyone had thiers done at better price as I know Renault want over a grand for this.

No not rang anyone apart from renault & my mechanic..

As Jon said try a specailist most places won't touch a 1.8 or 2.0 Mk1 a lot of specialists will do it for £300 cash.
Its a pain of a job to change and there a re fiddles to do it quicker but make sure they use a standard Renault clucth at all costs its much much better my uprated fancy one was a complete piece and it costs more than standard plus was a pain to use as it was so heavy.
Stock clutch is fine for upto 200hp or so.

Both specialists I contacted when mine for a ball park figure quoted £550 and £600..

Well been on phone most of day...
Mr Clutch said 630.00
Nationwide auto £792
F1 said wont touch it
So in the end Mr Unique quoted £560.00 all in - sorted going in Weds/thurs

box out job i usually charge 150 labour.....clutches can be had for 50-60 from gsf.....
