Clutch Price

I fear my clutch is on its last legs so I called mr. clutch yesterday. I was quoted 200 quid to supply and fit a new one and to change the gearbox oil. Is this a good price?

Doesn't sound bad to be honest.

I haven't had one go on my clio (YET) but on a polo I paid about that.

Ask a Renault Garage how much they charge. I'm pretty sure that will make you feel better.

Yeah I paid £205 for supply + fit a 1.4 RT clutch off Mr Clutch a few months back. Job was done in a morning and I had no problems (apart from them labelling it as a 1.2 on the invoice! Grrr!)

These people http://stores.ebay.co.uk/clutch-specialists-co-uk do an uprated clutch if you fancy going down that route but I don't know how good it is and you'd have to pay for fitting separately.

they told me on the phone that theres three types of clutch for my car ranging from 179 to 259 quid, so I sad to him he was pissed so he said he'd do it for 200 dead

Mine gave me no trouble after they fitted it, despite the odd agressive start I never thrashed it much though. Its broke now though (bent valves).

I might have it back on the road soon, should have a 1.4 engine with 29k miles on it being delivered in the next week or two!

Can't wait to get driving again, over a month without a car now and I just want to get out and drive!

Thats not a bad price maybe sure they use a proper Renault one don't bother with any copies and stick some new decient gearbox oil in when you change it don't stick the only stuff back in.
Just be glad you don't have a Williams or 1.8 most garages won't even quote one those that do want £300 minimum cash.

Cost me £1300 for clutch change, head gasket, cam belt + tensioners, and full service on my valver engine.

Would have cost around £600 for the clutch alone.

I'd say £200 is a bargain
