Clutch Problems

I have a 2000 plate Renault clio 1.2 mk2 ph1 with 56k on the clocks and it seems the clutch is about to go? t

The symptoms are:

- feels like its slipping
- hard to put into gear (1st/2nd) when ran for couple of min's

What do you think it is? clutch or gearbox

does it go into gear ok without the engine running? any noises whilst driving? does it slip more in 3rd 4th and 5th etc?

Yeah it goes in ok while the cars not running, no noises except when changing gear it doesn't go in all the way, And yes more in the higher gears.

You say it feels like clutch is slipping? try going up a steep hill and floor it, soon tell

Get to 30mph, throw it in 4th gear and floor it.

Or (making sure there is nothing around you) handbrake on, engine on, clutch in, put it in 4th, let the clutch out completely.

Sounds like the clutch.

Does it ever smell really bad?

Mine is the same and there is oil leaking onto the clutch slightly... Just going to wait till it goes though lol.

If i go up a hill in 3rd then put it into 4th it just starts to roll back pretty much its only a 1.2 haha and it did start to smell abit today, Any way going to take the clutch out one day next week hopefully. £39 quid of ebay or something like that
