Clutch

When do you know when the clutch is on its way out. Any advice would be great.

High biting point, Slipping (heard a good test is 5th on a steep hill with speed?), Smell.

As above but at low speed, if it starts to rev more than usuall when you follr it you have issues

OP - Are you just wondering or do you have symptoms?

My car (non sport) always had a stiff clutch, Fairly high biting point. It only ever got slightly higher from what it was when i bought the car, Maybe a bit stiffer as my leg started hurting in traffic clutching in 1st.

Pot hole a few weeks ago finished it off. (Rare and unlucky ive been told, But it was on its way out anyway)

New clutch in the pedal is id say about 5x lighter, Bites low like it should and drives better.

Not really sure to be honest, couple of weeks ago a whining started when in gear and off the throttle. Now the noise has got a lot worse, but only stops when you press the clutch. It has always had a high biting point and has been very stiff for the five years I have owned it.
