any 1 know of a gd mechanic in bournemouth area to fit a new clutch to my 172 as the thrust bearing is giving up,
also does any one know of an around figure to how much this is gunna set me back,

its now making a bad whining noise like it has a supercharger on it ,it doesnt sound good at all.

Sounds belt related to be honist. Probably the lower fixed aux belt idler.

is there any1/ vehicle tech in the south west willing to listen to my car as it can be a number of problems nw and its really pissing me off lol .id rather a second opinion on this than throwing money at the wrong parts....iltry n get a vid up if i can

K-Tec are in the New Forest, and Ren-o-tec (or something like that) are in Portsmouth IIRC.

Any mechanic should be fairly confident in diagnosing the problem !

also when itook it out i put it in reverse then went to go and as i lifted the clutch the and the car moved back slightly it just stopped dead like id yanked the handbrake up

Gearbox!! Get the oil checked. Also belt needs looking at.

i had the gearbox oil changed a month ago engine oil and all other fluids are fine .do you know if a 2003 172 cup gearbox will fit my 2001 172...

Ok m8 thankyou for ur help could you reccOmend a new gearbox or to get mine reconditiond
