coilovers

  Renault clio 1.2 16valve
What are coilovers and are they better than lowering springs any help would be greatfull

Techincally coilovers are any spring/damper assembly where the spring sits on a spring platform thats part of damper and the top part of the strut/piston goes through it. "coilover" usually gets used to describe any height adjustable kit that has a strut with an externally threaded body with a lower spring collar that can be wound up and down the strut to set ride height.

Matched sport dampers and springs and coilovers are better than just springs with standard dampers. Depending on the manufacturer be it coilovers or sports spring/damper kits you get very different results in both handling and ride comfort.
