Ok so today out the blue the Clio drops to 3 cylinders 2 miles from home. After checking the plugs (none black) swapping HT leads, checking the injectors it turns out the coilpack had failed. Luckily I had a spare genuine Renault 1 so I swapped it and all is fine, just to mention the faulty coilpack was non OE.
Anyway my question is the EML light has been on and off over the last 2-3 weeks so i put this down to the decat pipe. Is there a chance it actually might have been the coilpack breaking down to the point today where it completely failed? When it was running on 3 the EML light permanently flashed.
Ive since done about 30 miles and all is fine, seems to run better and MPG seems to be better too
