p.s. Why you use "coded" and not "coated"? Leo says "coated" for paintshop ore is "coded" colloquial better english?

Coated isn't wrong to use...but we also refer to it as colour coding, don't know why!

yes, thats it, black ones dosn't go with my 172 Front. But black ones make the car locking wide and low

totally agree, can't see the point of them for everyday cars (ie not ones modded for shows) yes, it protects the paintwork, but it looks s**t and if u never gonna take it off, whats the point? a silly imported idea from america in my opinion (like a lot of american things, supersize, compo, foreign policy...) no point in having a nicely designed front end if ur gonna put a bit of cheap looking leatherette all over the front of it.

and to get back the the thread, code it, looks classier in my opinion.

In answer to you wondering what the correct term is, 'colour coded' comes from painting the parts the same paint 'code', ie, identical to the bodywork.

The one on williams car looks either a one off or a remodelled front splitter from another car chopped about to fit either side of his exhaust.
