colour coding paints

  Renault Clio 1.2
Hi guys, just got all the primer down on my car, mk2 ph1. and ordered spray paint from renault (plymouth). didnt really think of asking the price. picked it up today, and i was stunned to find out that it was £14.91, for a a small 200ml can and a similarily sized can of laquer.

basically, does anyone know anywhere where u can get it cheaper, as im gonna need about 4 or 5 cans, and that is was too expensive.

has anyone got any to sell, its boreal grey 632.

also, quickly, do i rub down the base coat of spray paint, or do i not rub down the paint at all, and what do i use to rub down the laquer right at the end.

please help, anything would be great.

:) :) :) :)

what are you spraying on your car?

i painted 4 side strips and 2 fog surrounds with 1 can of paint, 1 and 1/2 cans of laquer.

basecoat doesnt need rubbing down no, unless the finish is poor + rough and theres bits of crap in it, but if you clean your primered areas well before painting you shouldnt have this problem apart from possibly a fly come and land in it.

you spray fine coats of colour until its covered and the colour looks ok. i used 2 coats of colour when i did my moms. then 2-3 coats of wet laquer when the basecoat is dry.

you wet flat the laquer when its completely dry (about a day) with either P1500 or P2000. Ide recommend the P2000 if your gonna be rubbing it back up by hand with G3.

ideal, thankyou, another help from my mate FM_AVA_696

well i've been ambitious, and taken front and back bumper off, side strips, fog surround, door handles and wing mirrors, so is a pretty big job.

sanded until they were smooth, then primered, then sanded till smooth, then one more coat of primer, thats it so far, painting on saturday if the weather holds out
