Colour Coding

Can anyone tell me the best way to go about getting all the things on my new 1.4 16v Dynamique colour coded. Like the handles, bumper trims, spoiler. The guy at renault said that they are best not sprayed cause they are not the right type of plastic? Is this true, does the paint start to peel or go sh*tty after a while when they have been done at a body shop?

If so, can u get the door handles, bump strips and spoiler from say a 172 and have them sprayed? Are they any different?

Whats best?

Renault only say that because they are sh!t!

Go to a decent bodyshop and theyll be able to do it for you, and will be a lot cheaper. I got the bump strips, bumper trims, door handles and boot lock done on my valver all for £100 and they look mint!

Wow sweet, where u get that done? Does the paint last forever, or start to peel after a year or so?

depends how good the prep is. my front and back strips have been colour coded by renault after my crash. have to say, they done a bloody good job!

I need to know of some decent places to get it done, not sure that renault really have the experiance of doing colour coding on the non "usually" coloured bits, they just usually spray the normal bits.... Didnt help with the guy at the renault body shop actually saying he did it and it didnt look good, lol.

Really does depend on which Renault dealer, as with any nationwide firm! I got mine done by a local bodyshop (I live in North Wales) and hes done a fantastic job!

Has only been c/cd for a week or so, but my old Nova had the whole bumpers c/cd by him and they still looked like new after a year. Youve just got to make sure the bodyshop prep them right first, then theyll be ok!

chloe my clio has been fully colour coded

she was in for about 3 days cost me £400 looks lot better now.

as i said, it depends on the prep.

renault done my bumpers about 2 months ago and they are still looking mint.

400 is a bit steep, id say you should get a good job for 250-300

I live in Reading mate, & im getting mine done right near me by this geezer that my dad got his Z3 & boxster sprayed at, so he knows hes a damn good sprayer.

& i got quoted between 200-250 for front n back strips, side bump strips, door handles & the spoiler that comes on the dynamique usually.

Which I think is really good for a top quality job.

then my mates dad gave me a rear bumper and front bumper inserts for nothing

Im gonna hijack this thread a little.......

should I colour code my door hndles, the bump strip and tops of bumber are not coded, and dont really want to, but feel the door handles should match.

should I do it or leave them black to match the rest, car is "lizuli" blue, bit lighter than monoco.

Yep like ding dong said mate, have it all done!!! the car looks sooooooooo much better colour coded!! why u think they brought the 172 & cup out fully colour coded

Ive got a good question tho.. should I have the wingmirror bits colour coded? The bit between the wingmirror and door, whatever u call that? Bracket cover? I think it looks better when u just leave that bit as it is. What does everyone reckon?

I personally say leave it the same mate.... u need some contrast! I reckon it looks good as it is unless your car is black, however its a good contrast between silver n blue clios n that.

I was thinking of getting the base bit of the Ariel done too! coz i will probably get a nice silver bee sting type ariel in the future so no point in having the base bit black too!

My car is the Nautical Blue ... So u reckon i should keep the wing mirror bases black? What about the aerial base? I was also gonna get a silver bee sting...

The other option was to have all the trims coloured silver, like in the pics of "Andy Bassetts 1.2 16v Dynamique". What u reckon?

i got my mirror bases painted, think it looks much better.

if you had a light coloured car I would say defo get it done.

i m colour coding myself at the mo, half me car on garage floor, all u have to do is take ur time, prep it well and fine flayers of paint so it dont run.

How do you take off the side strips then?

I went in to my local garage to ask about it, they said to take off the strips and theyll do it for about £80.

Ive tried having a go at the strips but they dont seem to wanna budge!

Open the doors, push the door ones towards the back of the car, and the ones behind the doors towards the front... apparently.. Im having it done at a garage, i dont wanna even try the spraying :/

yeah mate, i quite like that silver contrast with the blue!!! & i also really like that clio!

& by the badges... I mean the 16v badges on the side bumpstrips! I will either leave them black, take off the lettering & spray it body colour or get the letters masked up & spray around them!

I dunno about the black bits, and btw my car is blue. Looks ok on silver...

Those are 17" super ts right? How much is that car lowered by... Im hoping its like 60mm at the back, cause im getting pi springs 35 front 30 rear, and i cant have it as low as that one in the pic at the back... Work car :/

lol, replied about the accident in the other colour coding thread mate.... & i dont know whose car it is mate! i saw it at donny south & said thats pretty much what mines gonna look like at the start!

I think they are 17s..... could be 16s? hopefully the owner will see this! or someone who knows the car will!!

If its blue mate, im sure it would look ok? or u could just rub off the letters and get it sprayed all! just take ur car down to chestermans mate & ask them what they can do! and make sure u voice ur concerns first!!! coz they can suggest stuff & make sure ur happy before they go ahead

Got the utopia rear spoiler (with led indicators on each side) and the koncept skirts (which im not too sure about now.....)
