(common fault) gearbox circlip popped out

sorry to bring this topic up for those who seen it loads as we all know the common fault of once the cir clip its like pringles once they popped they just dont stop lol but was wondering if there was a cure for the normal box or is it a upgrade to the newer gearbox thanks garry

not to sound stupid or anything but is the fitting of tht plate able to be done with the box in still and do you leave the the cir clips in thanks for replys every one

i had mine in for 18 months before i sold the car, and as far as i know its still going strong.

yep you can fit it with the box still in just drain the box and drop the nearside shaft out is a bit awkward though as there isn't much room! yes you leave the circlip in place you need a 4.2 mm drill bit and an m4 tap to thread the holes i also had a large magnet next to each hole to stop the bits you drill out dropping in the box. also flushed the box through with the oil you drained out and replaced with new...
