Common problem or non caring owners

went to look at another clio 172 this morning and both doors had chips out of them (like they had been opened onto a wall or something). someone has also suggested that this is due to the seatbelt getting caught in the doors. This isnt the first one ive been to look at with these chips out of the paintwork...so is it a careless owner or common problem?

the car was 7100 with 55k.....bit over the top i reakon...although was flame red !!!!!

depends if people hit your car with there doors or you hit things with yours

sorry didnt explain myself very well...but the chips are along the edge of the door...so wudnt be if any1 else hits yor door.

to be honest the paint on the edges of the doors on renaults seem to be very thin and does this easily

since i bought mine in may ive noticed little chips on the edge of my door,they wernt there when i bought it, and ive never opened it into anything

The door catches are spaced to far out.... the 1st one is too early and the other is just before the door is fully opened so it is easy to hit things. Mine have scratches but none of which were caused by me

In my clio i have been known also to slam the seatbelt buckle thing in the door when ive closed it but that scratches the inside and not really chipped the outside

could be the wind, my doors have blown right open in the wind, luckily no walls next to it tho

My door blew open into my neighbours E-reg Fiat Uno and chipped paint off the edge of my door.. not a mark on his car!

Breeze, I did the same onto my neighbours 15yr old rover wng mirror! Put a bloody dent on the b pillar just above the bottom of the window line! Again, not a mark on his!

Chips on the door edge are caused by opening your door into something. End of.

the paint is crap on the door edges too, and can just fall of with the slightest touch

I havent got the problem but having said that Im anally retentive with my car!! lol

I think it depends if you treat the car as if its stupidly fragile then youll avoid these kinda things. I guess if you use the car day in day out, perhaps put family in the back etc then that kinda thing is likely to happen.
