Compressing a video.

Hi im trying to load a video to my web site. The size of file is 855MB. I tried to load it but after a couple of hours. It booted me. Well i think Virgin Media did. So what could i use to compress. I have found this on Google http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=compressing+videos&btnG=Google+Search&meta=. What do you clio memebrs use? Regards Lee

use a iphone converter or something, shrink it down to a small resolution will give the most gains though.
