Computers and Subtitles

How do you make PC dvd players play the subtitles that come up during uk spoken films, when they speak a different language, I.e the japanese speaking bits in tokyo drift? Im using media player, but it doesnt seem to make any difference what player i use. How do i change the settings to make it do it?

power dvd and windvd will let you turn on the subtitles

but then again the info needs to be on the disc to play the subtitles
