connects 2, pioneer - renault stalk help

I got one of these adapters for my HU that is Pioneer.
Now it has a little black headphone type plug, ive put it in but trying to get it into the dash is a no go.

Has anyone else got a Pioneer 8300SD with the connects2 stalk adapter and got it fully inserted?
