Considering the following mods....

  HyperAlloy Combat Chassis
The modding bug has finally got me :) I was thinking of the following (for my 182 cup)....

AWT inlet manifold
BBPT decat, out soon and claims to not make the emisions light come on.
Cat back system, thinking pro speed pref. not too loud!
Panel filter, not sure if this is worth while?

And a nice remap to top it off. Are superchips any good? I'm in the Glasgow area and they have a place in Fife. Seems reasonable at £293 but obviously I want to make sure it's done by someone with a clue.

I'm just worrying about the decat. If I'm in an accident, how do I square the circle of having a car that isn't road legal?

I'm thinking I could get the lot for about £1-1.2k. Warranty shouldn't be totally killed and the insurance shouldn't be too bad. I'm thinking I would end up with around 195bhp, but what about torque?

What about NOS systems? Or would my silly french car just crumble to bits? I would like a go-baby-go button like in the movies

good mods.

u can tell the insurance about the decat (so i believe) it is classed as a mod .

nos ...................2 fast 2 furious really :star: , wonder ho much for the laughing gas though?????????

  172 cup'd extreme
have you drove you car to it potential yet?
decat yes gains but mot time pain in the arse free up about 2bhp -ask fred for one
map i loved my r-sport ok for budget choice not SMT's or owt to expensive for what they do and cut into the loom (ok lawnmower?)
get sum coilovers then try it!

Well I'll have the car on track for the first time on tuesday, so I guess I'll see a different side to it then

I was pondering suspension.....the problem is I have already scraped the underside of my car twice on speed bumps with stock suspension. It's even worse with passengers in the back. I'm worried about lowering it further. I don't want to get to the stage where I have to plan detours round speed bumps everytime I go out. Plus it seems stiff enough for road use. It can already "skip" a little bit driving at high speeds on surfaces that aren't completely flat. Again this has me worried that if I made it stiffer, this would get worse. I don't know much about suspension, does this make sense?

Don't fancy a piggyback ecu, I would like to keep the electronic toys. Plus I couldn't be arsed explaining all this to someone when I come to sell it. I think I can get what I want with a remap of the existing ecu?

I also work with GP/dental surgeries a lot, wonder if I could obtain some medical nos for cheap

H&R coilovers for about £800 is a better first mod IMO and you will still have enough cash for a manifold match and decat.

I was considering something like this. But won't this bring me back to my concerns I've already raised about suspension?

Go over speed bumps slower?

I have plenty of speed bumps near me and have never scraped the car on standard suspension or lowered on coilovers (my car is not 'decked' which is a benefit of coilovers you set the ride height where you want it).

dont get NOS

get a wizards n2o kit.

youve obviously been watching too many films as the 'go baby go' style would lead to a bang.

You mean I can't go over at 40mph? ;) There is one set in particular that I have to go over every week, and I can't get over them if I have someone in the back seat. I find if I go over to the other side of the road and go over diagonally that helps.

But what your saying about setting the ride height yourself sounds good. I suppose I could have them normal height most of the time, then bring it down when I'm at the track. Is this easy to do? I'll find out on tuesday if going to the track is something I want to do reguarly, but I suspect it will be.

Sorry, this is what I meant. I was actually on their website and it actually looked feasible. I'm just worried about destroying something.

Raising the car up and down is not a 5 minute job and once you set it you would really leave it as it is.

Sounds to me like you need to get onto the local council about the speed bump.

aslong as you dont put too much power in at low revs your ok, i used to only use mine after 4k rpm and was putting in '80bhp' jets - got a proven 75bhp out so that was pretty efficient.

main thing is the setting up, i bought loads of different jets to change the ratio for when the bottle was warm etc.. but then just bought a bottle warmer :)

my engine was very strong, but the clutch didnt last very long.

i was also using a progressive minimax controller to build up the power by pulsing it in, puts less strain on the engine as it can take more power at higher revs.

Yeah I was thinking of doing this. I shouldn't need a bloody mitsubishi shogun to get into the car park

Nice, you still got it? Pity about the clutch.

Really? I could change the ride height on my old car in minutes..did'nt even have to take the wheel off....

I spent a couple of hundred quid getting the camber and corner weights set up so for me I dont want, or need, to touch it.

You could do the back with the wheel on not sure about the front though.
