Converted Playstation 2 to 12 volt

after a long time I have found a way of converting a PS2 to 12 volt without using an invertor

Did you just take the top off and wire it straight to the board, skipping the onboard transformer?

as that would give a sweet 12v dc to the ps2 with minimal componets
