OK so just completed a flush and changed the thermostat but the system only took 5L. Thing is I couldn't get the lower rad pipe off on the right of the engine, so had to pull the one of the left side by the oil filter which is a little higher.
Flushed it through with water until clear, filled and bled and it recirculates fine in the header and the fan kicks in when stood, also the temp gauge is now bang on in the middle whereas before was a little low and took ages and a good ragging to get the hot map.
I know the system should take 7L so am I little baffled unless due to not getting the lowest pipe there's still fluid in the system but it looks clear as a bell.
