Coolant leaking through the Thermostat housing?

So I was just checking fluids and pressures of everything before setting off on a journey - noticed the water level is JUST below min, so had a quick look around and there's some residue around the thermostat housing - how is this sealed - purely just by the Thermostat or is there a housing seal?

Either way, need to work out which I need!

Also - Will I be fine topping it up with a bit of water for now (it's on the min marker) to about half way so that it doesn't go below it? I assume it's not too cold to actually freeze the coolant if there's that much in there already?

Any help/suggestions? Renault parts will be closed and gotta go out so just want to ensure there's plenty for my trip - it can't be leaking that much as last time I checked it was fairly low anyway, so shouldnt be an issue on the journey.

New thermostat o-ring/bit of rubber...

May aswell chuck a new stat in Matt while you are at it.

Yeah makes sense to do so, cheers!

Type D is nice and cheap, I'll get it all done @ Fred's when I next take it up as I've got a few things I need serviced (coming up to 72k slowly)
