Coolant Question.....

Hi.

Do i HAVE to use this Renault type D coolant in an 03 172?

I have 5ltrs of Fuchs Eskimo Universal antifreeze i bought from GSF last week. It says it's for petrol & diesel engines inc aluminium engines. It's a superior glycol based antifreeze apparently.

I've only got this afternoon to get the thermostat changed and can't get out to get anything else.

What do you recon?

I'd only sell you type D for it, i believe you can use other antifreezes - but you might aswell you use the proper stuff. Oh and you need 7 litres too.

what ratio do you mix anti freeze with water at ?

When you say 7ltrs, is that 3.5ltrs coolant and 3.5ltrs water or 7ltrs of type D coolant?

Type D from Renault comes ready to use, no need to dilute

just 50/50 what you have antifreeze/water thats what i normally do

7 litres un-diluted if it's type D

yep just whack they type d in, no water needed, and when top up needed at some point down the line - top it up with type d again.
