Correct Tyre Size For A 1996 RSi

Its either a 165/60R14H or a 175/60R14H.

Can anyone answer the question, both sizes are stated in the hand book.

Or doesnt it mater as long as theyre the same, all round of course!

And cheeper on tyres 4 u! only by a couple of quid!

So heres the next question, where can I get some nice new cheepies?

Hmmmm remember steve that if the original size is 165 and you put on 175s without altering the profile you will have a speedo error (You will be going faster than the speedo indicates)

will you? is the rr affected when the aspect remains the same?

Yes because the sidewall height is a percentage of the width, and therefore the circumference on the tyre increases unless you drop the sidewall percentage too

I would fit 175s they are cheaper and dont affect anything.

But they are both 60 profile. So 60 as a percentage of 165 or 175 wont be large enough to effect the speedo will it?

Edit - sorry posted to early, 12 mm diameter difference.

Steve, if you go for 175, the go for them in a 55 profile instead of a 60 as this lessens the difference in RR of the tyre

(all of this is done on the assumption that 165 was the original tyre diameter)

Then the percentage is much much less the closest rr is the same aspect.

that site says

We recommend ±2.5% is the MAXIMUM difference in diameters

lucky the same aspect tyres are +2.17%

Your suggestion leaves him with a -7.38% diff way beyond what they recomend.

Theyll cost a fortune then.

Steve go for the 175s.

Lets face it there cheaper, and within tolerance.

Though that chart thing Roamer posted is interesting!!
