Cost of N/S drive shaft + CV joint replaced?

Car  133, 182, Kangoo 182
I think my drive shaft is on it's last legs.. progressively getting worse and don't know how long I have left before it gives up.

I've been told I should get the CV joints checked/replaced at the same time.

How much am I looking at?

This has been covered loads recently, what is it with driveshaft suddenly all going.
IIRC the driveshaft is about £100. PLus labour, plus as its the N/S the gearbox oil will spill and need to be replaced or put back in. Probably only a few hours work though if they know what there doing.

Would I be better off going to a garage rather than asking the missus' Dad to do it? He does everything else on my car and pretty sure he's done it on his cars before. I have no doubt that he can do it, I just don't want something going wrong again lol.

Depends if you trust him lol. Its not a hard job to do, just make sure you know what your doing before you have a go.

a new driveshaft from renault is £220 they dont supply just the cv joint due to they are pre assembled well thats what they told me

replacing the driveshaft is relatively easy if your doing in on the floor id imangine filling the gearbox back up could be a pain

Just spoke with him told me I will need the following:

Drive shaft
Outer CV joint
Some kind of gaiter?

How much am I looking at for parts from ECP, etc (anywhere but Renault)?

I wish mine were that cheap!! Renault want £191.50 plus vat for each side !! and they would charge £250 to fit ! what a con!

Tried Cliospares?

Someone local will fit it for a few quid, i'm sure. It doesn't take long.

i had a reconditioned offside shaft complete with cv joint boot etc supplied and fitted by a local transmission specialist for £95 last month.

It's a minefield, different shafts for mk1 172, mk2 172, 182, 182 cup

I struggled to get one from a motor factors
