Could I fully refurb my alloys in one weekend?

  Clive the Clio no. 2
Im going to refurb my alloys this weekend,

i need to know if i could get all four done on a afternoon on saturday, a full day on sunday and a full day monday?

The reason im asking is because i will have no spare wheels so i will not be able to drive anywhere until its complete,

i suppose i could do one at a time anduse my spare until all four are complete.

what do people reckon?

I was thinking of doing the same, but I do have a spare set so I don't have a time limit on mine, Something like that is best done altogether imo

You could, but the paint might not last as long as it would if u took ur time with it.

Just make sure u put many layers of lacquer to protect the paint.

Well 5 days matey.

Not the best quality, but it'll do for a DIY job, planning on doing it again, but different colour.

was it worth doing it?

better than spending to get it professionally done?

did you use the guide off this forum?

Defiantely worth doing, once u do it, u'll be really pleased with it, providing u've done it well!

All in all, it cost me about £25 to do it!

(all four wheels!!)

I did use a guide, but it was plain obvious what to do!!

Sand off the curbings on the spokes, and the rim, and use metal filler if need be.

Clean off the dust fon the wheel, 2 coats of primer, then use a fine sand paper, and then another coat of primer.

leave to drive for a day

then paint, and leave to drive for half a day, then another coat of paint, leave to drive for whole day, then lacquer. easy.

i reckon i could get it done in 2.5 days,

i just wont have a car, thats my main worry.

i will have 2 pairs of hands aswell so it might speed it up a bit more

  Suzuki Ignis Sport
Well however many pairs of hands u have on ur body won't speed up the driying and curing process!

Did 2 wheels on my bros car in a less than a full weekend so I'd have thought it would be possible to do 4 in 3 days. Main problem is the drying time but it doesn't usually take long.. just don't rush it.

yeah but the sanding e.t.c would be quicker, and the paint would dry quicker if they were all done at the same time instead of me doing one at a time.

im just worried because i havent got 3 wheels spare, so i have to do them this weekend!

This is key, i can't stress this enough.

Don't rush it, otherwise it will look shite, and make sure u shake the can properly, otherwise the paint won't spread properly.

Thisisi talking from experience.

yeh i reckon u could definately get em done tbh. Would spend most of the time on the prep tbh an it shouldnt come out too badly, im in the middle of doing mine but iv got a spare set on so not in a rush. Iv had em off a week and a half an still not finished sanding lol.

Not a chance. Once the paint is on, it needs to cure etc. I've just refurbed two of mine. I bought x2 repalcement alloys, so i could do two at a time. I sprayed mine down 3 or so weeks ago, they have only just properly cured, as in you can dig your finger nail into the finish and it leaves no marks. When you rush , you'll make a mess, trust me.

not a chance. it takes a lot of time to do prep work or the paint wont stick right and as already said waiting for each coat to dry is the worst part. ive done quite a lot of wheels and it usually takes 2-3 weeks for a full set to be done, and this is not filling kerbings. you would be better to try and get a spare set of wheels to throw on

if uv got bad kerb marks mate itll take ages, iv just had to fill loads of kerb marks on mine and then start the sanding process again it does take time but i want them perfect so im not rushing.

My mate did his the other day an they took him 3 hours, he did a right bodge job. Took the wheels off keyed them with 1200 w/d then sprayed them white (from silver) and sprayed lacquer on. Thats 3 hours to do all 4! they look good atm but not sure how long theyl last tbh. I ran me fingers over them the other day and their like sandpaper tbh.
