Could throttle response on a Ph2 be made to match a Ph1 ?

  PH1 V6
As above,

i own a ph1 172 and earlier i took a ph2 for a drive. FIRST thing i noticed was the "lack" in response when putting my foot down. I know people say theres hardly any difference but seriously there is.

Other than that i preffered being in the phase 2, nicer place to be etc although i didnt get to drive it very hard to see how good it really is.

My question is this.... with a decent induction kit, matched inlets etc would this drematically improve this? something along the lines of the package JMS tuning offer.

I drove my ph1 after and gave it some and it just feels like a maniac! but i didnt get to push the ph2 very much so cant comment too much.

All owners please discuss :)

Could always ditch the FBW in the ph-2 and convert it to a cable throttle? Ph-1's I've driven do seem to have a quicker response when you push the throttle though.

It's something to do with emissions iirc.

There is a delay on full throttle with the fby system, but it can be altered with mapping, if you really wanted you could have a binary throttle.

Im just wondering you see as i do like the Ph2 etc and im just interested to know if this is something than can be drematically improved with a remap, induction setup and inlets etc. just felt a bit sluggish when putting your foot down, much shorter box than a ph1 aswell.

same engine, same chassis but very different to drive

A remap resolves some of the lag of the FBW trottle of a PH2.

Henk (FastChip) can alter the ratio between gas pedal and throttle body valve. He did mine once as an expirement and you could notice some difference.

Don't know if he looked further into that after he did mine.

i hated my throttle response on my 182 till i got an rstuner now when i put my foot down.. it goes :p which is novel lol seriously worth every single penny!!

I noticed no difference when I remapped with an rs tuner. It was still the same slight delay. Had Matched inlets and PH1 box as well.

Do you have a ph2 172?

if so what do you think of it overall performance wise, is it fairly good when chucked into corners etc

I do have a PH2 yeh. Erm It holds it's own in the bends yeh, alot nicer with a proper throttle pedal. As standard I like the interior better as well :)

Im assuming you have changed the throttle setup? if so how was this done and was it costly?

sorry for all the questions im just intregued so see whats possible and whats not without spending megga bucks.
