Couple of Sigma 30mm Shots....

Not really had much of a chance to use this lens very much, but here a few of my results do far:

My only criticism of the lens is that the minimum focus distance is too long.

Your outdoor shots look very sharp though

As a portrait lens , you don't need to worry about close focusing distance - most people don't like having a lens shoved up there nostrils.

Bit of stand off is what you need to a portrait, unless of course you want nostril hairs in the image lol

I was advertising this for sale... but have just been playing with the lens and its impressive in low light.... not the sharpest of shots... but f1.4 and shutter speed of 1/13 whilst being used hand held.....

And indoors at f2.8 and shutter of 0.033

Impressive shots. A guy in work has the canon 30mm and he showed me his photos from a recent christening and the shots were brilliant. I'm going to try and get to have a play with one soon.

The shutter speed you can get in low light is just great, tried taking the same shots with my other lens and it was having none of it!!!

Did you use a 50mm 1.8 before? Just wondered if it's worth having both as I find my 50mm a bit long for a lot of things.

Stunning shots anyway.

I can't fairly compare the 50mm to the 30mm as one was manual focus and one was auto focus. I would say the sigma shots are better and is more usable in low light.

Its far from cheap, about 3 times the amount of the 50, but i'm finding 30 is such a decent range!
