Court Date..

Got my paperwork through yesterday to attend court.. on Monday week.. 31st Jan... For those who dont know.. 98 in a 70 on the A303.

I was pulled 4 Months ago...

in September.. Whats pissed me off more, is that ive had to cancel my Pro-Speed exhaust being fitted with was on the 29th..

i was pulled over speedin.... 4 months later i have a letter and go to court, 6 points £300 fine and £90 for my exhaust!! jokers!

i had a faulty exhaust!

i paid £100 to have it sorted then they fine me £90 aswel 4 months later

yet someone a little twocer round my way stole a car ditched it,

3 month ban and £90 fine - and hes just 17 no justice

mate got done doing 97 in a 70

hes 18

got 5 points and £300 fine

conditions were on his side though in every way!

Dave sounds similar to mine.. the copper said id prolly get 4 / 5 points + couple of hundred fine..

he works in the motor trade but didnt get a letter from his manager or anything

just went in and pleaded guilty and didnt waste there time

tbh he was very lucky, but means 1 more point and hes buggered!

on the traffic report police handed in everything was in his favour though, very light traffic, very clear day etc

how were things when u were caught?

Smokey, I pushed my last one on for so long that it took over 6 months. Usually thats the cut off point but they set the court date after 5 months. Sneaky b******s. 3 points £100 fine.

I have not pushed it on thou Lee, we ignored the 28day NIP and not heard a thing since

106mph on A1

They will get you smokey mate, I thought they had to. Got it through the post with about a week to go and off to court i went. Best advice i give, is be honest (without screwing yourself), admit what you did was wrong but that the conditions were good etc, you are prepared to take one of those speed awareness courses and that you need your car for work (everyone says this, so leave it till last).

The conditions were sunny, dry with moderate traffic, altho i thought it was pretty clear..

my mate got cought going 104 mph in a 1 litre punto on the m18.

he got a solicitor, he ended up with a 2 week ban, £200 fine and amazingly NO POINTS!!!

If you get a ban then you will not get any points!

Its either 1 or the other not both (unless you get a ban after the points for totting up)

oooooooooooo just realised the offence was not on the 20th at all, but was a week before hand which makes it a little bit better, only 3 weeks to go.

I got caught doing 42 in a 30.. 3 points and £60 fine.

My mate got caught doing 88 in a 50.. and what did he get, a 14 DAY BAN and a £190 fine. No justice i tells ya, id of taken what he got over my points.

the Point OR ban argument.. surely a ban would have a heavier loading on your insurance than points..?

iirc you only have to declare a ban for 3 yrs but points stay for 5, not 100% sure thou

Insurers will murder you if you have a ban. I know, had a 2 month ban for 80 in a 40.

Couldnt afford the insurance after that, had to sell my lovely Manta GTE !!

I must admit guys - you lot down south seem to have a lot more of the Big Brother Is Watching your Speed Syndrome than we do up here. Im not saying that the M/Cr area is free of cameras and stuff, but on the trips Ive made to Nottingham, Birmingham and Bristol - there seems to be a lot more.

I did pass a camera van (and got flashed) on my second trip to Canada. Passed it on the hard shoulder at circa 125mph in a Pontiac, when the speed limit was 60mph. I heard nothing from it (and it was 7 years ago now!) but the interstates are just so long and straight thats its nigh-on impossible to stay within the 60mph limit. It feels like youre almost going in reverse...
