Gutted Mate - just hope it goes well, get everything you can in your favour - letters etc. I got a solicitor, but that was for a CD10, not speeding.

Smokey - Be prepared nate, I got my letter 10 days before the 6th months was up, so annoying.

5 points and £210 fine for the trouble, I did close the Road for 6 hours though - and dleayed everyone who live in Nottingham / Derby for quite some time. Apologies.

They used to be active for 3 years but couldnt come off for 4. Suppose the last year was like a period if you got caught again they could say you hadnt learnt your lesson.

A303 runs from london way down through hampshire and onto the west country doesnt it?

Points are counted for 3 years from conviction for the purposes of totting up.

After 4 years you can apply to have them removed. I think there are exceptions for Drink Driving, Dangerous Drivings, Causing Death by...ect. These stay for 10 years (I think)

Insurance will usually ask if you have had any convictions including points, bans etc. in the previous 5 years so even if you have the points removed from the licence you still have to declare.

Nothing to stop insurance asking what you did in the last 10 years.... it may well come one day soon.
