Cover at the rear of the battery?

Anyone know what the cover/piece of metal is towards the bulkhead next to the battery? I'm wanting to replace the one in my 172 as its damaged.

You got it in one mate! What's involved? Ie what's the tricky part removing it?

Mine did this, just left it as it didn't seem to be causing an issue. I assume its fine to leave?

I believe its got some security bolt which can be a bit of a pain first time round.

Tbh, I wouldn't bother replacing it as it will just snap again. Clamp the broken part with two penny washers -

It will be fine - some people complain it makes a rattle, that's all.

It's more I want to sand it back a re paint it. Slightly corroded and doesn't look too nice..

It should just pull off with a bit of force and lever it with a big screw driver or similar (there is a little clip on the back that it needs to be lifted over).

Thanks mate. I'll try repairing the little bracket too. Any idea how much a new one is likely to be?
