Covers on bumpers

On the 172/cup bumpers (maybe all new shape clios) they have a square cover under both lamps. Any idea what they are for, are they where washers once lived or crash sensors for the airbags?? Answers on a post card!!!

Not on the Mk2 172 thought as it has washers. only on the cup.

Yeah it is where the washers would be if you had a standar 172
